Full Size English Saddle Pad for Larger Horses:
Equine Care Full Size English Saddle Pad is designed for riders seeking a secure, breathable, and elegant solution for broader horses and larger saddles. With a generous cut and contoured shape, it offers extra coverage for warmbloods, drafts, and wide-backed horses, providing a more stable, comfortable ride across disciplines like dressage, jumping, and trail.
Built with performance in mind, this pad features a core of 12mm shock-absorbing foam and 200g polyfill, delivering firm, even cushioning to reduce impact and pressure on your horse’s back. A high-wither contour supports anatomical comfort, while non-slip grip backing and reinforced billet straps ensure it stays securely in place through movement.
Full Size English Saddle Pad Measurements and Sizing Guide
In English tack, "full size" is the standard horse classification, sitting one step above cob and one step below extra full. The Full Size English Saddle Pad measures approximately 26.5 inches wide across the spine and 25 inches deep along the drop, placing it at the larger end of the full size range and giving you extra coverage compared to a standard 22 by 21 inch pad.
A few quick rules to check fit before you order. If your horse currently uses a pad where the saddle skirts overhang the edges, or you ride a wider horse and find conventional pads sit too short across the back, this is the size you want. If your horse measures around 15 to 17 hands with a standard build, a full size pad is correct. Ponies and small cobs should sit one size down. For Shires, Clydesdales, or unusually broad-shouldered drafts, contact us before ordering so we can confirm coverage on your specific horse.
How to Wash, Clean, and Store Your Large Size Saddle Pad
The Full Size pad is hand wash only. After a ride, brush off loose hair and dirt while the pad is still damp from sweat, as it lifts more easily before it dries in. For a deeper clean, soak the pad in cool water with a gentle horse-safe detergent, work the suds through the quilting by hand, rinse thoroughly, and lay the pad flat to air dry.
Avoid machine washing, tumble drying, bleach, and harsh detergents, as any of these will break down the foam core, distort the quilting, and shorten the life of the pad. Stored flat or rolled in a clean dry tack area between rides, this pad is built to hold its shape and structure for years.
