Heavy-Duty Horseshoe Puller Built for High-Volume Shoe Pulling

This heavy-duty horseshoe puller is built for farriers who pull shoes all day and need a tool that will not slow down between horses. It is a working piece from the hoof care tools collection, forged from chrome steel and sized at 14 inches for real leverage on stuck or clinched shoes. At 2.19 pounds, the frame carries enough weight to help drive the pull without tiring out your hand across a full day of appointments. This is a dedicated pulling tool, built to do that one job well rather than stretch across several different tasks, which is what sets it apart from a lighter, multi-purpose plier. Farriers running a full daily schedule notice the difference between a tool built for one heavy job and one asked to do several lighter ones at once.

Deep Serrated Jaws Forged from Chrome Steel

The deeply serrated jaws bite into clinched or stubborn shoes and hold that grip through the full pull, so the shoe comes free in a controlled motion instead of slipping loose halfway through. Forged chrome steel gives the jaws a corrosion-resistant finish that holds up in rugged stable conditions and high-volume clinics where the puller sees repeated use every day, pull after pull without a break in performance. The 14-inch, weight-balanced frame keeps that leverage steady from the first pull to the last, and the ergonomic, non-slip handles support long pulling sessions without the grip working loose. Once the clinches are cut ahead of time with the hoof clinch cutter, this puller removes the shoe with less resistance and less risk to the hoof wall.

Why Farriers Reach for the Heavy-Duty Horseshoe Puller

Farriers managing multiple horses a day, training apprentices, or covering mobile clinic routes keep this puller close because it is built specifically for repeated, high-volume pulling rather than lighter, occasional use. For jobs that also call for spreading or resetting a shoe, the 14-inch farrier pliers use a different chrome vanadium build suited to that lighter, dual-purpose work, so the two tools cover different parts of the same job. Equine Care backs this puller with a 30-day manufacturer warranty, and a quick wipe-down and dry storage after each use keeps the jaws working the way they should, shoe after shoe. Keeping a dedicated pulling tool in the kit means the jaws stay sharp for that one job instead of wearing unevenly from mixed use.

FAQ

How do I use the Equine Care heavy-duty horseshoe puller correctly?

Position the serrated jaws at the edge of the shoe near a clinched area and pull with steady, controlled pressure until the shoe releases.

What makes this horseshoe puller different from a basic puller?

It is forged from chrome steel with deep serrated jaws that bite into clinched, stubborn shoes, built for heavy, repeated pulling rather than light or occasional use.

Is this tool only for professional farriers?

It works well for professionals, but the ergonomic handles also make it manageable for barn staff and students with basic farrier training.

What is the horseshoe puller made from, and how do I clean it?

It is forged from chrome steel with a corrosion-resistant finish. Wipe it clean after use and store it in a dry place.

What is the warranty on this horseshoe puller?

Equine Care backs it with a 30-day manufacturer warranty covering defects.

Can this tool damage the hoof wall during shoe removal?

The deep serrated jaws are designed to grip the shoe rather than the hoof wall, helping you remove clinched shoes with controlled, section-by-section pressure.

How is this different from the 14-inch farrier pliers?

This puller uses forged chrome steel and deep serrated jaws built for heavy, repeated shoe pulling, while the farrier pliers use chrome vanadium steel with round-corner jaws and ship with a carry bag for lighter pulling and shoe-spreading work.

These came with a storage bag. Seem sturdy enough.

These horse shoe pullers are nice that they also come with a storage bag. They do appear sturdy, although I haven't had the chance to pull any horseshoes with them as of yet.

Decent set of tools

My daughter's been learning how to take care of horses feet. These tools are decent and sturdy and she likes this set. I'll take her word as a qualified horse person and say this set is a good buy.

Works great…

I got this for my friend who has a horse (she knows how to use them). They look really nice and she said they came sharp and worked really well. Given her glowing review I’d say yes I’d recommend it.

Very heavy-duty.

I got these for the older horses at my barn who have trouble lifting and holding or bending their fetlocks for the farrier so we can just nip their toes back a bit on days their bending a little better.I have to say that these are huge and heavy duty. I showed to our farrier and they were twice as big as the ones he uses. They're well made and very decent for the price.

Good Quality, Works Fine

We finally got to use this shoe puller yesterday when our farrier came to the barn. We got a 21 year old gelding a few weeks ago and he used these, at my wife's request, to see what our farrier thought. He's a man of few words but said they were well made and work fine.He only pulled two back shoes with these pullers, but trimmed with his own knife as usual. He said it's not the pullers that make you tired. It's a horse tugging when handling the hoof that wears him out. Turns out our new boy has some hoof issues that explained the lack of compliance. The kind of things that were hard to see without pulling the shoes and that you wish the sellers had disclosed. So, that's the limited feedback we have on these. They work fine and will be nice for us to have at the barn for emergency use.

Must have for horses

These are a must have for horses. You never know when they might pull a piece of hoof sideways and need a quick trim before it gets worse. They are med. grade quality, about right for the average horse owner.
