Description
Our farrier apron is built for farriers who find standard-length aprons too long, too heavy, or too restrictive. Constructed with cowhide suede leather and 500 GSM canvas with foam padding at the thigh and knee, it delivers full waist-to-knee protection in a compact fit that stays in position through every horse.
Split-leg design, quick-release buckles, knife pockets, hammer loops, and nail magnets on both sides are everything a working farrier needs.
Which Size Farrier Apron Do I Need?
If you are between sizes on length, go shorter. A slightly shorter apron stays in position. A slightly longer one works against you every time you lift the horse's leg.
Length: Stand straight and measure from your hip belt line to just below your knee. If that measurement is around 23 inches, this apron is the right length for your frame. If you measure closer to 25 inches, the 25-inch model in this collection will serve you better.
Waist: Measure around your waist at the point where the belt will sit, not at your trouser waist. This apron adjusts from 28 to 52 inches so the waist measurement is rarely a problem but knowing your number lets you set the belt correctly on day one without guessing.
Thigh: You do not need a thigh measurement to order, but when fitting the apron for the first time the thigh straps should sit firmly without cutting off circulation. If you can slide two fingers under the strap comfortably it is correctly fitted.
Care Instruction:
After every use: Wipe down the leather surface with a clean damp cloth to remove dirt, sweat, and hoof debris. Do not let dirt dry into the leather it accelerates cracking over time.
Monthly: Apply a quality leather conditioner to the cowhide surface. Work it in with a soft cloth and allow it to absorb fully before storing. Do not over-condition once a month is enough for regular professional use.
Canvas and mesh: Clean the canvas and mesh areas with a damp cloth, do not soak or scrub, just wipe gently. Leave the apron in a well-ventilated area and allow it to dry completely before folding or storing.
Storage: Hang the apron flat or on a wide hanger in a dry, ventilated space. Do not fold it for long periods, creasing leather in the same place repeatedly weakens the fibres at that point over time.
