What is the honeycomb mesh?

The honeycomb mesh is a structured 3D fabric woven into a hexagonal cell pattern, the same shape as a bee's honeycomb. Each small cell creates an air channel between the horse's back and the pad's cushioning core. Three functions come from that structure. Airflow increases, so heat dissipates through the cells instead of building up against the horse's coat. Sweat is wicked into the cell structure and released, which keeps the back drier through long rides and warm weather. And the 3D texture grips the horse's coat better than a smooth flat lining, which keeps the pad seated through transitions, jumping, and lateral work.

What size horse is this saddle pad designed for?

It’s a full size pad with a generous cut—ideal for warmbloods, drafts, or horses with broad backs.

What are the actual dimensions of the saddle pad?

Approx. 26.5″ wide × 25″ drop. This generous full size provides added coverage for larger horses and broad English saddles.

Does the pad stay in place while riding?

Yes, the non-slip backing and reinforced billet straps help hold the pad in place, even during active movement or transitions.

Can I wash the saddle pad in a machine?

For best results, hand wash with mild detergent and air dry flat. Machine washing is not recommended per care label instructions.

Does the pad include the Equine Care logo?

Yes, it features the official Equine Care logo with contrast rope piping for an authentic, show-ready look.

What size saddle pad do I need for a warmblood or draft horse?

Warmbloods, drafts, and broad-backed horses need either a large full size pad or an extra full size pad. The standard full size pad most stores stock sits at around 22 by 21 inches, which is too small for the back of a typical 16 to 17 hand warmblood and leaves the saddle skirts overhanging the edges. The Equine Care Full Size English Saddle Pad is cut larger at 26.5 by 25 inches, giving full panel coverage on warmbloods, Irish sports horses, draft crosses, and broad-shouldered Quarter Horses without forcing you up into specialty oversized sizing. For Shires, Clydesdales, and unusually broad pure drafts, contact us before ordering so we can confirm the coverage matches your horse.

What size saddle pad does a Quarter Horse, Thoroughbred, or Arabian need?

Sizing depends on the horse's build rather than the breed alone, but breed averages give you a starting point. A standard built Quarter Horse around 15 to 16 hands typically fits a full size pad, and a broader, stockier Quarter Horse approaching warmblood proportions fits the Equine Care Full Size pad well. Thoroughbreds, with their finer narrower build, usually suit a standard full size or sometimes large cob. Arabians, being smaller and finer-boned, typically need cob size. If you ride a Quarter Horse cross with draft or warmblood breeding in the line, or a heavier hunter type Thoroughbred, this Full Size pad is the right fit. For a finer Arabian or a small Thoroughbred under 15.2 hands, look at a cob or standard full pad instead.
