This manufacturer, Equine Care, has many different variations of farrier aprons. I own two of them and both are solid and sturdy. They're hefty and as comfortable as can be expected considering they're basically groin and thigh armor with a lot of pockets and loops for carrying some heavy/sharp tools. The main difference amongst models is how heavy the hoof work that you're planning on doing is and how the apron "attaches" to your body.This particular version uses a pad that rests at the small of your back which is attached by heavy plastic snap-clips and hook/loop (rhymes with Felcro). The two lower straps, they go between your legs right at the crotch, are nylon with snap-clips. Heavier versions of these aprons use wide leather belts and "Felcro" attachment. I find these lighter, nylon clip-on belts more comfortable than the heavier leather straps. This version has 4 smaller pockets instead of 2 larger pockets. This apron version seems to be designed for holding lighter shaving, picking and bot knives.I'm surprised that the description doesn't mention the white, soft leather and suede work gloves that are included. They're quite solid and comfortable.These items all have a nice logo sewn or inked on them. This particular item shows that the website is equinecare.com. This apron is one to have, especially if you trim or shoe in warm climates. My old set was really hot in Texas. This one seams to have a material on the underside that keep me cooler. The pockets are nice and arranged so reaching my knives is easy with either hand. It will take a little bit of time to get the leather to form around my knives. The belt is padded enough to help support being bent over all day. I trimmed a clydesdale and 6 other horses on day one with this apron and had no issues. Great apron.

Pros:- 2 hoof knife\pick pockets on each leg with magnet below for nails- Very adjustable waist and thigh straps - hook and loop closure on each side for the waist plus plastic snap buckle so once you have it to your preferred "fit" you don't have to continue wearing out the velcro- wide waist strap in back is really nice to distribute pressure and even support a little- Thick and durable without being overly bulkyCons- magnets not quite as strong as I'd like but do work for the lightest weight things (a few hoof nails)- nylon straps around thigh aren't my favorite, from a safety standpoint, since the nylon doesn't "breakaway" if a shoe or nail catches when a horse acts up (I've had that happen, but the chaps I wore then had a thin leather tie that broke and I didn't get flung around)- if you hot shoe, there are parts on these chaps that will melt (nylon) from a poorly timed hot-shoe incident, there is a reason the pro's chaps are leather only with metal clips\bucklesOverall these are a good choice for a farrier on a budget starting out, barefoot trimmers, folks who cold-shoe, or just the slightly-above-average-Joe who keeps their own horses trimmed\shod and wants the extra protection

I’m not a professional farrier, but owning a commercial boarding facility im called on to pull my fair share of twisted shoes or tack one back on. This apron is really nice for my purpose, comfortable, plenty of pockets, padding in the right areas. I took a star cause the suede feels pretty soft and thin and I don’t think this would hold up for a true pro doing this all day every day, but then again those kinds of aprons are 2-3x the price. I’m very happy with these and I can’t wait to put em to work.

I like these chaps more than my old ones that cost almost twice the price of these. Super happy with these so far. They feel like they will last just as long as the more expensive ones I have.I will update in a year or so (after approximately one thousand horses trimmed).

PROS: well made and sturdy, strong stitching; comfortable to wear; easy to adjust straps; magnets are strong; padding makes working in these more comfortableCONS: obviously these won't hold up as well as all leather farrier chaps, a professional farrier would be better served by those, but for the price I think these are a good value

I got this apron to use with our two horses. I like it, probably because I only have to horses! I am thinking that a full-time person working with horses would most probably fine this apron too thin and need to opt for a more expensive model.I find that these points posted by another reviewer echo my thoughts as well if you were thinking of using these daily: The magnets not quite as strong as I'd like but do work for the lightest weight things (a few hoof nails) The nylon straps around the thigh are nylon, and the nylon doesn't "breakaway" if a shoe or nail catches when a horse acts up. A pair of chaps with a thin leather tie will break and you won't get flung around instead.If you hot shoe, there are nylon parts on these chaps that might melt. (The pro's chaps are leather only with metal clips\buckles.)

This apron is well made and thoughtfully designed with padding in all the right places. The suede feels pretty soft so I'm not sure how well it will hold up to hard use but it's definitely something an owner could get great use out of. The bulk of it is canvas so that makes it lighter weight and a little more flexible. Overall a nice apron at a great price.

Nicely made farrier apron. Some fit and finish details could be better as the suede wasn't cut exactly to the stitching lines but probably unnoticeable to most people. It certainly doesn't effect the use at all. I really appreciate the wide waistband at the lower back as the apron is heavy and gets heavier with tools in the pockets. The apron is nicely lined with a thicker mesh adding to the thickness of the apron for better protection against wayward knife and rasp cuts. The waist is easily adjustable with velcro but uses a heavy plastic clip to take on and off saving the velcro and keeping the adjustment. I think these are best used by the occasional use horse owner or by beginning farriers just starting out. The coarser stitching might not hold up to professional use day in and day out, but the fit and comfort are perfect for my use. Plus a shout out to the seller for adding some really nice gloves as well. Appreciated!

Really liked the comfort of these chaps. They feel great and do not get in the way of the work I need to do on hooves or limit my flexibility. The back pad spreads the pressure of the waist band over my lower back. The waist is highly adjustable and sits sort of in a V shape so bending over is not impeded. The leg straps sit higher on the back of the leg which I found to be very comfortable; yet the chaps stayed in place. The padding is great not only for protection but for comfort as well. Leather covers the areas that take the most abuse with a heavy-duty canvas in other areas which helps to decrease weight and allows greater breathability. I love the pockets; I use hoof boots on my TWHs and often need to rasp hooves to keep the boots fitting well between farrier appointments. Having pockets to hold a hoof knife and hoof pick/brush makes it so much easier than picking them up off the ground. I don't shoe, but imagine having the magnets would make it easy for holding nails being removed or new ones when putting on shoes. The magnets are below the tool pockets which would help avoid hitting them with tools or your arm as you work.
